why wouldn't a one year offer from the Penguins be more appealing than a one year deal from the Sharks at this point?

Because he's established in one of the nicest places in the US. Pittsburg offers a comparable winning opportunity but not much else. No offense, just stating facts

And that might be the most important thing. Not sure how the opportunity is 'comparable.' No offense, just stating facts.

"Winning opportunity" Halo else matters to a 38 year old that's made a boat load of money and never won a cup?

Not that it matters to Joe, but Pittsburgh is routinely voted one of the top places to live in the US by various publications over the past few years.

Maybe he'd like to stay on the West Coast and slot behind Getzlaf and Kesler. If we're gonna speculate.

I can't remember why the Bruins soured on Joe. If sully was on that coaching staff I wonder if he'd even want him today. For the record I couldn't be more on board with jumbo ad a 3c

Ry, what are your feeling on Duchesne? Wouldn't a cleaner shave fit better here in PittsburgH?

And for the unaware...there is an H in Pittsburgh!!! We are not Russia.

I just don't want to see any contract longer than 2 yrs with him, although I guess he'll be looking for term

Signing Joe Thornton and saving our assets to trade for a top line defenseman is my best case scenario for this offseason.

I'm willing to give up term for cap hit. If giving Joe three years pushes his cap hit bellow 5 mil, I'm in.

This is just not true... San Jose is not on Pittsburgh's level right now.

Cap hit is important. I wouldn't give Bonino a penny over 3.5 mil. I can stomach a 4 mil deal due to our good cap situation, but anything more would be an issue. Bonino isn't that good, and it really showed this year. He has half a season and the playoffs last year of showing a really high level of hockey play (granted it was with an electric Kessel) and the rest he's just been fine.

He was drafted by the Bruins and since the B's are allergic to talen, they traded him.

PLEASE tell me no one is truly considering under 5 mill is a legit offer for Jumbo. I wouldn't offer more than 1.5 for 1 year for him.

Pay Bonino. 4 years, 3.5 - 4 per.

Say NO TO JOE!!!
